Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet has chosen Miss Perfect – from grower Den Berk Délice (Merksplas) – as the tastiest tomato. This was decided by an independent jury including the famous chef Knut Lake.
Indeed, the hard work and quality products of growers within the Coöperatie Hoogstraten are enjoyed far beyond the borders of Belgium and the Netherlands. The panel tested some 20 tomatoes from Norwegian supermarkets.
Several Belgian and Dutch varieties managed to achieve a high score.
Growth opportunities across borders
Paul Van de Mierop of Den Berk Délice is very pleased with this award. „We export around 10 tons of tomatoes to Norway each week and are seeing good growth opportunities. This award is sure to have a good influence.“
“We Belgians are always too modest about our work. And yet, we have achieved results that make us immensely proud! We are now mentioning this award in our communications, helping to set ourselves apart from the competition.“
